El Bajio. 50 Years of Traditional Mexican Cuisine

Cooking the legacy of a renowned Mexican business.

El Bajio project was more than just a cooking book, it is a family-owned restaurant business that has been providing traditional Mexican cuisine for 50 years. It all began in 1972, when the business was first established in Mexico City. To celebrate their incredible milestone of 50 years in the business, El Bajio wanted to create a book that captured their legacy, and the journey that they have taken over the years.

We believe that books are an excellent way to keep the legacy alive and to share it with present and future generations, which is why we were so honored to be entrusted with the project. In collaboration with Roberto Gutierrez (my good friend and editor, who also happens to be a designer), we worked to create a book that reflected the past and the present of El Bajio, with its unique voice and style. We also used the original icons specifically created for the 50th anniversary of El Bajio by Gaby Huerta-Golbad, which really helped to bring the history of El Bajio to life.

Through crafting this book, we were able to ensure that the legacy of El Bajio is remembered for many more years to come. The book is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the El Bajio family, and a celebration of their long-standing success in the restaurant business. We are proud to have been a part of the project, and hope that the book will be an enjoyable read for all who pick it up.

Project developed in associaton  with AtomoCromo (Roberto Gutierrez).
